The following is a selection of question types that are often used in online surveys. Surveys and questions can be customized in a number of ways. For example, they can be accessible by e-mail invitation only, specific questions on the survey can be required, or questions that respondents see can be dependent on previous answers.
1. What is your first name?
This is a fill-in-the-blank question that is required. If it is skipped, an error message will appear when you click “Next”.
2. How did you hear about Evaluation & Research Associates? Check all that apply. This is a check-all question, meaning that participants can select more than one answer.
3. How many online surveys have you taken in your lifetime? This is a choose-one question that is also required. Your answer on this question determines the next question you will be asked. This is known as branching.
Note the progress bar at the bottom of each page. There is also an option to have a "Save" button here so that respondents can pause and resume their survey at a later time. Click "Next" to view additional survey question formats.
